Solidly defending the d-pawn at last. Had Black played 15 ... Rd8
instead of 15 ... Ba6, then 16 Nb5 could have been answered by 16 ... Ne8, and
White's excursion would not mean much. I bring this up because 15 ... Ba6
committed the bishop to the a6-f1 diagonal whereas before it was on b7 with an
option to travel to a6 with tempo. Having used the option, the bishop is less
effective. Benjamin therefore had an overriding reason why he felt he needed
to place the bishop on a6 first.
