Position after 7. g4

deFirmian is never afraid! Needing only a draw to win the match, he cannot resist this hyper-aggressive treatment! But since White will castle on the queenside, he has not burned that many bridges. Moreover, the move is highly positional - after 7 ... O-O White will probably settle down with 8 Bg2, with a much better square than on d3 as in Game 2. Also, if Black wants to fianchetto his queen bishop, he will have to do it soon, before the White bishop rules the long light-squared diagonal. (Have a question? Ask GM Rohde! Not all questions can be answered, but the Grandmaster will pick selected topics to cover live from e-mail received.)
