Position after 6. h3

Previous Next

Changing from Game 2, where deFirmian played 6 Nf3, and Benjamin was able to show the vitality of the system 6 ... e6. After Black placed his c6 knight on e7, White could not figure out an advantageous way to move forward in the center. In that game, deFirmian continued with 7 h3. The question here is whether 6 h3 is meant as a confusing transposition, or whether it is part of a plan specifically directed against the ... e7-e6 idea? (Have a question? Ask GM Rohde! Not all questions can be answered, but the Grandmaster will pick selected topics to cover live from e-mail received.)
