Benjamin is playing provocatively, ultimately looking for play on the
light squares in the face of a brewing kingside storm. However, 8 ... Ne7 is
certainly the correct expression of the idea started by 6 ... e6. Now 9 e5 is
not good because of Black's grip on d5, and in any case where Black can coax
the White e-pawn forward, the Black knights will find good squares. But after
9 O-O-O, 9 ... d5 would be too early as then 10 e5 would be good. Better is
the flexible 9 ... b6 fianchettoing. Then White may well start a demonstration
with g2-g4 and ultimately play for f4-f5.
