Position after 3... d6

Previous Next

A few years ago, Gurgenidze's 3 ... c6 was popular. That can lead to 4 f4 d5 5 e5 h5, where Black will develop with ... Ng8-f6, or 4 Nf3 d5 5 h3, leading to a much calmer position, and restricting the Black bishop from traveling to g4. (Have a question? Ask GM Rohde! Not all questions can be answered, but the Grandmaster will pick selected topics to cover live from e-mail received.)
