Vishnuvardhan Chirukandath Champion of 2006 National G/60 Chess Championship
(CROSSVILLE, TN)The 14th National G/60 Chess Championship was held May 20-21, 2006
at Joliet Jr. College in Joliet, Illinois under the direction of event organizer Dennis Doyle.
37 chess players participated in this national event in an attempt to achieve the national title.
Vishnuvardhan Chirudandath of India, rated 2199 was the champion with a final score of
5.5 points of this 6 rounds and the time control was 60 minutes per game, per player.
Overall section:
1st: Vishnuvardhan Chirudandath (India)-5.5.
2nd: Edward Formanek (PA)-5.0.
3rd: Michael Yang- (MN)5.0.
Expert section: 1st: Ashish Vaja (WI)-4.5.
Class A: 1st: Michael Yang (MN)-4.5
Class B: 1st place tie: Kent Cen (IL)-4.0 and Leonard Jones (WI)-4.0.
Class C: 1st place 5-way tie: Kevin Cao (MO), Dimitrio Kosteris (IL), Rudy Padilla (IL),
Siddarth Datla (IL), Henry Cao (MO) all finished with 3.0.
Class D: 1st place tie: Dennis Doyle (IL) and Sameer Datla (IL) 3.0.
Class E: 1st: Paul Peterson (IL) finished with 3.0 points.
