1800+ Chess Youngsters Will Go Country!
(CROSSVILLE, TN)The United States Chess Federation (USCF) will hold its’ 2005 K12/Collegiate Chess Championship between December 2-4, 2005 at the Hilton Americas & George E. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.
1455 players, representing 40 states, have already entered. The main event offers individual and team championships for each grade level (Kindergarten – College) with participants competing for national title and trophies. Players each get 90 minutes on their clock for each of their seven games. In addition, the Blitz Championship and Bughouse Championship will also take place Thursday. Blitz and Bughouse have five-minute time controls for each player and the Bughouse is played in teams of two!
Grandmaster Maurice Ashley will give a simul Friday morning at 9am, a lecture on Saturday at 12:30pm and autograph sessions throughout the weekend. David MacEnulty, nationally recognized chess coach, will offer a lecture Sunday morning at 10:30 am. David will also field questions regarding the upcoming A&E movie based on his chess career, “Knights of the South Bronx” which aires Dec. 6 at 8pm (ET) on A&E Network.
