New Jersey State Chess Federation Breaks Record With 2005 U.S. Amateur Team East
1210 chess enthusiasts made up 286 teams to break a record for the 2005 U.S. Amateur Team Chess Championship held at the Parsippany Hilton Feb. 1-21, 2005 in Parsippany, New Jersey. In addition to chess being the ultimate entertainment at this event one of the highlights is the costume competition. Even if you are not one to experience the thrill of the chess competition…being a spectator could just be one of the most exciting times you’ve ever had at a chess championship!

The All America Team was created in 1987 to honor the very best players under the age of 19. Being on this team is one of the highest national honors attainable by a young chess player. Members of the All America Team qualify by age and rating. Candidates are selected based on their age as of January 1, 2004 and their peak USCF rating from events occurring between July 15, 2003-June 14, 2004.
