September 23, 2009
KasparovKarpovlogo.jpgAfter a dismal 0-2 start in his Valencia, Spain match against Garry Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov fought back against the Grunfeld to score a round three victory. In the endgame, Kasparov's two pieces proved no match for Karpov's rook and passed pawn. According to Mig Greengard's blog, Kasparov called his rival's win the best game of the match.
