The race to the U.S. Open in Indianapolis, Indiana (August 1-9) is on! Be sure to sign up for the main event here. Check details on the tournament schedule, hotels and side events on the official US Open website. And don't forget the superstar simuls! You can also sign up for Women's World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk's simul on August 5th and the U.S. Champion Hikaru Nakamura's August 7th simul. Five spots into the 2010 U.S. Championship (Spring, 2010, Saint Louis ) are at stake in the U.S. Open for the top five U.S. finishers. Important Note: if any of these is qualified on rating or from another event, qualification will not move down (the 6th US player will not qualify). In cojunction with the U.S. Open is the Denker tournament of High School Champions (download list of participants here) and the World Chess Live College Tournament of Champions. Players confirmed for the Open section of the TOC include IMs Sal Bercys, Marko Zivanic, Daniel Fernandez and Gergely Antal. There will also be a full slate of meetings.
