Defending U.S. Champion Alexander Shabalov began the 2008 Frank Berry
U.S. Championship with a shockingly short loss to Alexander Yermolinsky
when Shabalov blundered on move 18. The two Grandmasters were pictured chatting at the players' meeting , but clearly a friendly game was not in the cards.
