We are excited to announce that Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana's transfer to the US Chess Federation was approved by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs, or FIDE, on June 26, 2015.Grandmaster Caruana, who holds dual citizenship of the United States and Italy, is now eligible to represent the United States and play under the US flag.
Fabiano just finished the first leg of the Grand Chess Tour at Norway Chess 2015, and will play his first US event back representing the USA at the 2015 Sinquefield Cup, set for August 21-September 3 in Saint Louis.
The 2015 Tour was created in partnership between the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis
(Sinquefield Cup), Tower AS (Norway Chess 2015) and Chess Promotions, Ltd. (London Chess Classic).
This is the first time in history, the United States has three players rated in the top ten in the world. Based upon the FIDE June Rating List:. they are Fabiano Caruana ranked #2, Hikaru Nakamura ranked #3, and Wesley So ranked #9.
GM Fabiano Caruana has also added a new member to his team- the popular commentator and IM Lawrence Trent is his new manager.
