Carolina's Junior Invitational, May 1-3

The 2015 Carolina's Junior Invitational will take place May 1 - 3, 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Charlotte Chess Center. The tournament will feature the top 6 players from North and South Carolina in the following Categories: High School (9-12), Middle School (6-8) and Elementary School (K-5). The tournament also features $1750 in scholarships as well as over $750 in miscellaneous prizes and gear.

All Students Receive:

Winner of High School Section: $750.00 Scholarship, Event Plaque, 1 Year Chess.com Diamond Membership

Winner of Middle School Section: $500.00 Scholarship, Event Plaque, 1 Year Chess.com Diamond Membership

Winner of Elementary School Section: $500.00 Scholarship, Event Plaque, 1 Year Chess.com Diamond Membership   

The Invitational was created by founder and director of the Charlotte Chess Center, NM Peter Giannatos. Giannatos says that "As opposed to our usual state open events, the Invitational will reward the students who have devoted huge amounts of time and energy to chess. Once a year, I plan on pampering them like professional players." 

Charlotte Chess Center GM-in-Residence, GM Ben Finegold as well as NM Peter Giannatos will be doing live commentary during the event.
