Allan S. Beale (1916-2011)

Allan S. Beale, a former USCF member from Hingham, Massachusetts, formerly of Walpole, Westwood and Stoughton, Massachusetts, died 13 days before his 95th birthday on 1 November 2011. He graduated from Bentley School of Accounting in Boston and continued his education by taking courses at Dartmouth, Cornell and Harvard. After a career in banking, he retired as president of the Savings Bank Life Insurance Council of Massachusetts.

Mr. Beale contributed his skills at chess by being the coach of the Westwood High School chess team. He also taught chess and mentored at the West Roxbury (Massachusetts) VA Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara (Twombley) Beale; two daughters, Elizabeth Clifford of Hingham and Nancy Sisson of Atlanta, Georgia; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Beale.
