By Franc Guadalupe, FIDE Zonal President, Zone 2.1 (USA) Today, I received the following invitation from the organizers of the 2012 Continental Chess Championship which will take place in Mar de la Plata, Argentina, October 12-22. Based on FIDE-Americas regulations, I can nominate three players who will be the official representatives from our Zone. Those three players will receive free lodging and meals. Other players from the U.S. may participate at their own expense. If you are interested in participating, please email me at [email protected]. I will submit my list of nominations by September 10th. Mr. Presidents of the Chess Federations of America. Of our highest consideration. My name is Andres Rodriguez, G.M from Uruguay, I am part of the organizing committee for the Continental Americas Tournament, the event will be held between 12 and 21 October 2012, in the city of Mar Del Plata, Buenos Aires State. Argentina, for myself and the President of the Organizing Committee, Engineer Mario Petrucci, we want to welcome and inform all the details of this important event. By this email, I ask your invaluable help to publicize the tournament and contact with players in their respective countries, it is worth noting that, among other major awards, the Continental Tournament, awards 4 places for the World Championships, 20 thousand dollars in prizes, rules automatic 18 games (one is forearmed!), titles direct from GM and IM, etc.. In the case of official places (which are the costs of room and board covered by the Organization), ask them to contact the presidents of each zone, which will be in charge of establishing, in full according to the Official Rules approved Continental Fide by the Assembly of America.
