Karpov Wins in the Blitz [VIDEO]
June 13, 2012
Watch the post-game press conference with former World Champion Anatoly Karpov, who defeated four-time US Champion Yasser Seirawan in a match, held at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis from June 10-13. The classical and rapid portion of the match was deadlocked after three days of play, but Karpov won the blitz match in a thrilling contest. After the games, the two discussed the match and took questions from listeners.

An interesting segment resulted from a question from Daaim Shabbaz of the Chess Drum, when Karpov indicated that two years after running for FIDE president, he is still interested in chess politics.  "I can't name it as political ambitions but I have ideas to improve chess organization and [FIDE], which is wrongly led now. he structure of the federaation should be changed. We have big problems because of this wrong voting system, a federation which has hardly 30 or 40 players has the same vote as U.S. or Russia or China. It's difficult to change because this is part of income for delegates of small federations. Maybe some other team would be able to convince the change. Otherwise, the chess federation is in big trouble. At least there should be a veto system, which is important for federations which have 100,000's or millions of players."
