Peter J. Zito Jr. (1945-2010)

Peter J. Zito Jr., a USCF member from Billerica, Massachusetts, formerly of Waltham, Mass., died December 27, 2010. He was 65.

Mr. Zito played for many years at the Billerica Chess Club up until early April 2010. He also competed more than five years ago at the former Nashoba Chess Club in Westford, Mass. Back in the 1970s and 1980s, he was a frequent participant in tournaments organized by chess promoter Stephen Dann for the sponsoring Chess Organizers of New England (CONE). He was a former longtime member of the Massachusetts Chess Association (MACA).

He was born on September 23, 1945, the son of Peter J. Zito Sr. and Mae Belle (Peters) Zito. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Regis "Trish" (Ularich) Zito; aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours were held in late December 2010 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home in Billerica. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica, New York.
