Robert Levenstein (May 26, 1914 - May 1, 2009)

Robert Levenstein, a former USCF member who was New York state chess champion in 1934, died May 1, 2009 in New York. He was 94.

Mr. Levenstein was an accomplished pianist and performed for the New York Pro Musica for many years. He was a music educator before he retired. He lived at 115 73rd Street in New York City.

His last published rating was 2174.

He is survived by his wife, Helena (Moore) Levenstein; a son, Fredric Levenstein; and two grandchildren, Ketherine and Jacob Levenstein.
