On Sunday, February 5, while many people watched the Super Bowl, 540 young
people between the ages of 4 and 13 turned out to play chess in the CalNorth Youth Chess Age Level Champs, founded and organized by Dr. Alan Kirshner four years ago.

include GMs Nick De Firmian & Mikhail Kekelidze and norm-hunters
such as Aleksandr Ostrovskiy, Alec Getz and Matthew Herman.
