In the World Youth Championship, two of our youngest competitors, Tanuj Vasudeva and Samritha Palakollu scored impressive 8.5/11 scores. Both were on the top boards all event and earned silver medals due to superior tiebreaks!

USA Scores 4.5/10 in World Cup Game 1

The ten US players at the World Cup scored 4.5/10 in round 1, game 1 with three draws and three wins. Winners were GM Varuzhan Akobian, GM Alexander Shabalov and defending champ Gata Kamsky.

With two rounds to go in the World Youth Championship, Samritha Palakollu is in clear first in the Girls Under 8. Tanuj Vasudeva lost in the Under 8 Open  while Jarod Pamatmat drew, keeping him tied for first in the Under 12 Open.

Tanuj Vasudeva (Under 8), Samritha Palakollu (Girls Under 8), Jarod Pamatmat (Under 12) are not letting up in the World Youth, and all three now have 7/8 with three rounds to go. Also in good shape are Sarah Chiang  and Alena Kats, both with 6.8.
