Reigning US Champion Gata Kamsky advanced to round three of the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk in Russia after defeating former FIDE World Champion Rustam Kasimdzhanov in a Ruy Lopez.
Meanwhile Alexander Ivanov drew his second game against Igor Lysyj and heads to tiebreaks.
Sam Shankland and Alexander Onischuk were both eliminated by Abiheet Gupta and David Navara respectively.
