Palm Beach Gardens Chess Club and South Florida Chess Club jointly sponsored the 2015 Florida State Senior Chess Championship in Margate, Florida on July 11th and July 12th, 2015.

There were 29 players (50+ years old) that participated in the first ever Florida State Senior Chess Championship.  John Dockery was the Chief TD and Bruce Kutikoff was the Assistant TD and organizer of this event.

There were 2 Sections:  OPEN Section and Under 1710 Section

9 Trophies were given out in total.  1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place in each Section as well as special trophies for Over Age 65, Over Age 75 and Over Age 80.

Everyone enjoyed the event and it was well organized.  Mr. Dockery and Mr. Kutikoff did a great job in spite of the short notice in getting the approval to run the Tournament.

Hopefully this will be the start of a new tradition and we hope to hold another Florida State Senior Tournament next year 2016.
