Nathan C. Dumke (1988-2012)

Nathan C. Dumke, a former USCF member from Bowler, Wisconsin, formerly of Shawano, Wis., died on April 3, 2012 in Shawano. He was 23. He was born in Shawano on September 24, 1988, the son of Larry Dumke and Jodi (Frailing) Breitenfeldt. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater.

He was an avid chess player, competing in his first USCF-rated tournament at the Wisconsin Chess Association-sponsored Junior Open in Ohkosh, Wis., in November 2001. Besides participating in other state-sponsored scholastic events, he competed in several national scholastic tournaments, including the 2002 National HS Championship in Louisville, Kentucky; the 2003 National HS Championship in Columbus, Ohio; the 2004 National HS Championship in Dallas, Texas; the 2005 Super Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee; the 2006 National HS Championship in Milwaukee; and finally the 2007 National HS Championship in Kansas City, Missouri.
