Kevin S. Hammon (1959-2013)

Kevin Scott Hammon, a former USCF member from Jewell, Kansas, died October 22, 2013. He was 54. He was born on March 3, 1959 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of the Guy and Barbara Hammon. He held a doctorate in physics and had taught at North Carolina State University. While in North Carolina, he competed in the long-running popular "Phi Kappa Blanca" chess tournaments, held in Raleigh and organized by International Arbiter Robert Singletary. He participated in those events held in December 1996 and January 1997. His last-published rating was 1991.

Mr. Hammon was a published author. Among his writings was an abstract: "Biframe bundle geometry and an extension of RMW theory: Application to a charged perfect fluid."< /p>

He is survived by his parents, both of Jewell. He was predeceased by two brothers, Guy James Hammon Jr. and Randy Paul Hammon. Burial was in Riverside Drive Cemetery in Crete, Nebraska.
