Jeffery Lynn Bayard (1953-2011)

Jeffery Lynn Bayard, a former USCF member from Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, died Feb. 4, 2011 in Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, Minnesota. He was 57.

He was born Nov. 12, 1953 in Superior, Wisconsin, the son of Raymond and Elaine (Holmes) Bayard, and had lived in the Superior area before moving to Wisconsin Rapids. Mr. Bayard had worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, where he received in 1999 a Quality Management Program Award by the Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association for his work with asphalt testing and inspection.

He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan. He loved traveling and playing chess. His last USCF-rated tournament was the North Central Open in late November 2003 in Brookfield, Wisconsin, where he tied as a Class B runner-up in the Reserve section.

His funeral was held Feb. 10 at the Downs Funeral Home in Superior. Burial was in Summit Cemetery in Summit Township, Wisconsin.
