David Manusov (1994-2010)

David Tyler Manusov, a former USCF member from Friendswood, Texas, died on October 16, 2010 from complications related to epilepsy. He was 16.

He was born on February 1, 1994 in League City, Texas, the son of Mark and Tracey Manusov. David was a junior at Friendwood High School, where he was a member of the school's chess club and varsity team. He had joined the USCF in May 2006, when he played in his first-rated tournament at the age of 12 in Houston. He played in subsequent tournaments sponsored by the Houston Chess Association. He was very active with the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 452. At the time of his passing, David was working on a Boy Scout Eagle project to raise funds to build a school for at-risk kids in Vietnam. He was a member of Congregation Shaar Hashalom in Clear Lake. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Scott and Brandon Manusov.
