Carl G. Jetzer (1915-2010)

Carl G. Jetzer, a former USCF member from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formerly of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, died after a long illness on April 2, 2010 at his home in Minneapolis. He was 95. 

He was born in Sheboygan on January 12, 1915, the son of Joseph and Agnes Jetzer. He graduated in 1934 from Sheboygan Central High School and in 1939 from the Marquette University School of Engineering in Milwaukee. He was a lieutenant in the  U.S. Army in World War II, serving in the Pacific Campaign. Mr. Jetzer worked for the Sheboygan Water Department before he retired. 

He was a longtime member of the Sheboygan Chess Club. His last USCF-rated tournament was the Arpad Elo Open, held in March 1996 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and sponsored by the Wisconsin Chess Association. 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gloria (Krueger) Jetzer; two sons, Dr. Thomas C. Jetzer and Lawrence R. Jetzer; and a grandson, Kristian Jetzer.
