In round 2.2 of the World Cup ( Nov.24-Dec.17, Khanty Mansisyk, Russia), American players Alex Onischuk and Gata Kamsky avoided the tiebreaks by winning their matches 1.5-.5 against Predrag Nikolic and Boris Avrukh. Meanwhile, Yury Shulman was knocked out by super grandmaster Alexei Shirov.

In round 3, on Friday at 5 AM EST, Alexander Onischuk will have a chance to avenge Yury's loss as he faces Alexei Shirov himself! Kamsky will play the winner of the tiebreak between Rustam Kasimdzhanov of Uzbekistan and Kiril Georgiev of Bulgaria. (UPDATE:Georgiev won the tiebreak 4-3.)    You can watch the games live here.
