This standoff forced a guantlet style blitz elimination tiebreak, which begins with board four from each team facing off. The winner then faces the other team's board three, while the board four is eliminated. This continues until one team defeats all the other team's players. GM Wesley So was on board one for the Archbishops, but he wasn't called in because board two Varuzhan Akobian finished the job, winning against Dallas's top board, GM Conrad Holt.
