We have liftoff - Astronaut Greg Chamitoff has opened with 1.d4, and now Earth's young advisors have responded with four choices for you to consider to begin Earth's defense.

Tonight, the chess team from Stevenson Elementary School in Bellevue, Washington - the defending National K-3 Champion - submitted four possible responses, and now it is up to YOU and your fellow Earthlings to VOTE!

Voting will be open until 2 PM EST/11 AM PST on Monday.

Lead Flight Director Heather Rarick, at NASA's Johnson Space Center, informs us: "When I spoke to Greg on Friday, he was thrilled to start playing and he thinks he's up against a real challenge."

Stevenson coach Dave Hendricks tells us: "It is quite an honor for Stevenson to have been selected as the national championship school to represent Earth. The coaches, players and their parents are very excited about this game with Greg, and thank NASA and USCF for making this match possible."
