WorldJuniorlogo.jpgIn the World Junior Championship (Gaziantep, Turkey, August 2-16) , Indian players won both divisions: GM Abhijeet Gupta took the World Junior with 10/13 while IM Harika Dronavalli took the World Girls Championship with 10.5/13.  GM Parimarjan Negi, who recently visited the U.S. and tied for first in the World Open , earned a silver medal. The Turkish hosts must have been happy with the World Junior Girls bronze medal (shared 2-5th) earned by Kubra Ozturk, ranked only 31st going into the event.

On the American front, Tyler Hughes finished with 6/13: Check out a CLO interview with him here. Meanwhile Tatev Abrahamyan, who was off to a running start, lost steam but won her final game, finishing on 7.5/13 and in a tie for 13th place. GM Alejandro Ramirez, University of Texas at Dallas blogger and officially playing for Costa Rica, finished with 7.5/13 also. Check out the official website for complete results, crosstables, games and rating reports.
