Coleman200.jpgThe 9th installment of the North American FIDE Invitational series kicked off this past weekend in Chicago. New faces have appeared at this tournament but well known in the US tournament circuit such as Harvard freshman FM Teddy Coleman and NY high school student NM Marc Arnold. Also appearing in the event is one of our neighbors from the north, FM Raja Panjwani of Canada.

With 4 rounds completed we have 4 players in the norm hunt, none of which have an easy task ahead of them. FM Mehmed Pasalic leads the pack with 3.0 / 4.0, needing to go 3.5/5.0 to secure his second IM norm. Here is his victory over Marc Arnold:

FM Teddy Coleman, who needs 6/9 for an IM norm is in the same boat needing 3.5/5.0 for his second IM norm.

1737

Rounding out the last of the norm hunters are FM Gauri Shankar and NM Marc Arnold who need to go 4.0/5.0 to get their first IM norm.
