MARAUDER CHESS CAMP

July 14th-19th 2019

Marauder Chess Camp is a Players camp – tailored to students entering 6th-12th grade.

Overview

There are many Chess Camps offered that focus on training and instruction by Grand Masters.  Campers in these camps might spend 4-6 hours per day in classrooms.  Marauder Chess Camp is focused on playing the game we love in several different tournament formats. It will also provide a great experience to all campers while allowing for some flexible time to engage in other activities or enjoy some down time with new friends.  There will be several events daily that all campers will play in but after that you can play more chess or select other scheduled but not mandated activities.  This is an opportunity to get away from home and experience life on a college campus and enjoy what you love to do.

Itinerary

The camp is structured, but we also want to make the experience a fun one for all campers.  Chess junkies will have plenty of events to play and compete in, but we also want to provide some recreation opportunities and other activities so the campers can rest their minds or just relax. Our camp is new and we are excited to provide a chess camp experience that allows for some degree of freedom.  We have several chess coaches interested in providing some level of instruction but more as an elective than a structured and mandated event. Marauder Chess Camp is designed to be a residential camp but allows for day campers as well.  The Suites on campus are newer and the campus food is excellent. There is a daily championship tournament and evening events may include sports, non-chess activities, blitz, or quick chess. But freedom of choice is a standard that we want to maintain for our campers.  Our campus is very secure and counselors will stay in the suites as well.
