US Champion Hikaru Nakamura was eliminated from the World Cup in Baku in round five by Pavel Eljanov.

Now only six players remain: Eljanov and Anish Giri are through to the semifinals. Meanwhile in tiebreak playoffs tomorrow, Peter Svidler plays Yi Wei and Karjakin faces Mamedyarov.

Nakamura said on his facebook page, "my opponent Pavel Eljanov played better than I did, especially yesterday when he found a nice sacrificial idea to which I responded very poorly."As always, it was a pleasure being in Baku, and I am looking forward to being back next year for the Chess Olympiad."
