The legendary Garry Kasparov has announced his return to the chess board -- and Saint Louis! The Chess Club and Scholastic Center is ecstatic to bring together the 13th World Chess Champion Kasparov and famed English GM Nigel Short for a two-day exhibition match at the end of April, as the first installment of its Battle of the Legends series.

Kasparov and Short will hark back to the dawn of elite speed chess in 1987 and rekindle their meeting in the 1993 World Chess Championship, with a 10-game match at the CCSCSL on April 25-26. The two will play one Rapid game of chess and four Blitz games on each day, with the entire event streamed live with commentary on www.uschesschamps.com.

Club members may witness this rare event in person, along with several opportunities to get up close and personal with two of chess' greatest living legends! April's Battle of the Legends match will be free to view for CCSCSL members (Single day memberships available for $5), as well as the 20-board Simul for each legend on the afternoon of Friday, April 24. And don't miss your chance for a handshake with Kasparov and Short, set for a special autograph session on Sunday, April 26. Check in to www.saintlouischessclub.org for more details.
