The US team drew Canada 2-2 today in the Open section of the Olympiad in Tromso, Norway (August 1-14). GM Varuzhan Akobian lost on board three while GM Sam Shankland evened the match, thus maintaining a perfect board score (4/4).

This round saw heavy-hitters face-off. World Champion Magnus Carlsen drew with World #2 Levon Aronian while Former World Champ Kramnik defeated rival Veselin Topalov.
