Sevian300.jpgWorld Under 12 Champion Sam Sevian was awarded the IM title at the presidential board meeting in Yerevan, Armenia. He earned a fourth norm and crossed the 2400 FIDE rating barrier at the First Saturday tournament in Budapest, Hungary in November.

Here are two of Sevian's victories, a Marshall Gambit and a nice example of the power of pieces over a queen.

World Under 14 Champ IM Kayden Troff also played in the event and tied for 2nd with Sam, behind IM Sergei Matsenko. See the full crosstable on chessresults.

Both IMs are part of the Kasparov Young Stars program in conjunction with the Saint Louis Chess Club.

Kayden contributed to CLO recently on his 2nd GM norm performance in Saint Louis. Find out more about Young Stars here and the First Saturday series here.
