Kamsky & Nakamura Among Final 16 in Tromso Print E-mail

Gata Kamsky and Hikaru Nakamura both advanced to the final sixteen contenders at the World Cup in Tromso, Norway.  Both won their matches in the classical portion and get a rest day tomorrow, while their opponents are still undetermined, to be decided in playoff matches. Nakamura will play the winner of Daniil Dubov-Anton Korobov while Kamsky faces the victor in Shakhriyar Mamedyarov- Wei Yi.

In round three, Nakamura scored 2-0 against GM Baskaran Adhiban of India. His second round win featured a pretty exchange sacrifice, 24.Ne5, followed by invasion with king and knight.

Gata Kamsky won with Black against Norweigian GM Jon Ludwig Hammer, finding the key defensive in-between move 17...Nb4!
