Awonderslide.jpgThe fun begins in Madison this weekend as the Denker tournament of high school champions, Barber K-8 Champions, National Girls Invitational & US Open kick off. Check out the story in the Wisconsin State Journal, featuring 10-year-old Awonder Liang, 13-year-old Anupama Rajendra & EB Board Member Mike Nietman. In explaining his devotion to chess, Liang says, "if you love math, you keep doing math, and I guess it’s like that.”

As the tournament progresses, follow pairings, results and find key links and info at http://uschess.org/tournaments/2013/usopen/ and look for a Denker preview by Melinda Matthews this weekend and US Chess Scoop video coverage next week.
