After four rounds of the 2013 US Cadet Championship, Varun Krishnan is 3-1 and in 1st place. James Black Jr. is half a point back. If they manage to maintain their lead, the championship would be determined by their head-to-head matchup in the last round. All the games have been well fought with only 7 draws our of 16 games even though they players are only seperated by 100 ratings points.

The US Cadet is for players under the age of 16. The winner recives a four-year scholarship to UMBC and the top three receive free entry into the Washington International.
