Krush & Zatonskih Advance in Women's World Champs Print E-mail

IrinaWorldWomens.jpgAnna Zatonskih and Irina Krush advanced to round two of the Women's World Championship in Khanty-Mansiysk. Zatonskih made it through with a 1.5-0.5 win in the two-game classical match. Irina's match against Ruofan Li was tied in classical  and Irina advanced in the blitz rounds. Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Irina won in Armageddon playoff. 

Tatev Abrahamyan was eliminated by Miami resident and former Women's World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk.

In the first game round two, Anna Zatonskih drew with Wenjun Ju from China while Irina Krush lost to GM Pia Cramling of Sweden. In the second round, Anna drew again while Irina defeated Pia. Both go to tiebreak on November 16th.
