A strong Philadelphia Open is underway at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown (April 16-20), with over ten participating Grandmasters, including reigning US Champion Gata Kamsky. GMs Magesh C Panchanathan and Vladimir Dobrov are leading after three rounds with perfect scores.

Kamsky is half a point behind with 2.5/3. His wins included a victory over the young IM Akshat Chandra , who recently had an incredible tournament at the Marshall Chess Club in New York, earning clear first place and a GM norm.
