American players Erik Kislik and Alexander Battey both found success in the February edition of the monthly First Saturday tournament series in Budapest, Hungary. Battey earned his third IM norm while Kislik, who already has three norms, surpassed the 2400 FIDE rating barrier. GM Gevorg Harutjunyan of Armenia earned clear first at the round-robin tournament with 8/11.

Over the years, many American players have earned norms at First Saturday, including Fabiano Caruana, who is currently ranked #7 in the live rating list at 2700chess.com.

Battey's favorite game from the recent event was this win: "Nothing spectacular but this was relatively error-free.  I thought the position after 29.Qa3 was very interesting."
