The Metropolitan International (August 17-21) begins tonight at 7:30 PM EST in Los Angeles.

On Tuesday, the tournament's top seed English GM Michael Adams gave a 20 board simul. The average rating of the participants was about 2000. Adams scored 14 wins, 1 loss to Dean Arvidson and five draws with NM Samuel Sevain, NM Kayden Troff, Varun Krishnan, Agata Bykovtsev and Larry S. Smith.

There was also a pre-tournament dinner celebration with several of the top players.
