From August 17th to 21st, super-GM Mickey Adams, GM Loek van Wely, GM Ilya Smirin, GM Timur Gareev, GM Dejan Bojkov, GM Mark Paragua, GM Mesgen Amanov, GM Robert Ruck, GM Dmitry Gurevich and GM Melikset Khachiyan are slated to play in the 1st Metropolitan International, a 9 round Swiss tournament at the luxurious Sheraton Downtown Los Angeles (711 South Hope Street, Los Angeles CA 90017). The event will offer the opportunity for GM, IM, WGM, WIM norms.

The tournament hall is near many local attractions, such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, LA Live, Staples Center, Universal Studios (and many more, etc) situated in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.
The 1st Metropolitan International currently has 29 foreign players, 11 grandmasters, and 50 titled players registered. See full details on the official site. Look for video updates by Ice Hat Creative as the event progresses.
