Michael Bodek (New York) and Arthur Shen (New Jersey) finished on top at the US Cadet Championship in Crossville, TN (July 11-15). Shen came into the last round leading by half a point, and drew his game against the World Open Under 2400 co-champ Aleksandr Ostrovskiy. The two are recognized as co-champions, but on tiebreak Arthur takes the UMBC Scholarship four-year, fixed dollar incoming tuition scholarship to the University of Maryland at Baltimore County (current value $69,760 for out-of state, $34,832 in state).

Arthur told CLO that his brother Victor helped him with openings before every game. Looking back on the whole event, Arthur said that "the tournament was very well run."
