gataslide.jpgThe candidates matches began today in Kazan, Russia. Our US Champion Gata Kamsky drew his first game against Veselin Topalov with White.

In his crucial US Championship semifinals victory over GM-elect Sam Shankland, Kamsky chose to play 6.h3 against the Najdorf with some speculating that he was saving more serious anti-Najdorf recipes for Topalov. Against Topalov, he played another relatively offbeat line with 6.a4.

Catch tomorrow's game at 7 AM EST. For more information, see the official site.
