Alien AbducteesOur "weird media stories" come from all kinds of sources. Alert Buzz readers catch a chess reference in a magazine or newspaper and send it in. An internet chess addict suffers a disk crash and, relegated to channel surfing in the late hours of the night, spots a chess reference in an old movie or an infomercial. And then there's radio... One of our Georgia readers was crawling through early morning traffic (we know, why do they call it "Rush Hour"?) when a radio spot came on for the Georgia lottery. This time, it was a scenario about a woman calling a "Get a Date" line for singles. The theme was something about It can be hard to find a winner... Calling the dateline, she gets the usual touch-tone menu of choices. The script ran something like this: "Press 1 for Unemployed Gameshow Hosts.
OK, our reader sent this into Chess Buzz, and naturally we feel some further research is in order.
