Robert E. Hux

I was born on July 26, 1929 in New York City, but grew up in Holyoke, Mass. I attended the Univ. Of New Hampshire and received BA and MA degrees in Mathematics. I am married, have two daughters and one grand daughter. My professional career was in the management of large scale systems software. Robert Hux

At age 7 I learned chess from Hoyle while recuperating from a childhood illness. However, I did not play tournament chess until college, when I was first board for the team. Winning the New Hampshire State Championship was the highlight of my college years. I have remained active in over-the- board tournaments, primarily in the Philadelphia area and New Jersey.

I took up correspondence chess in 1976 when I moved to a locale without a convenient chess club, and soon became addicted. I first played in the Golden Knights, and then the Absolutes, gaining a tie for first in the 82 Absolute and first place in 83.

I have also played in other national and international correspondence tournaments. I am most proud of gaining top score on 1st Board for the USCF in the First National Team Championship and playing in the 8th North American Invitational Corresponfence Chess Championship.
