Scholastic Services:

U.S. Chess, a not-for-profit association of more than 90,000 members, exists to educate and instruct the public about chess. Our chief goal is to promote chess as a significant aspect of American culture. We provide chess information to the public, sponsorship for national championships, and administrative support for numerous chess development programs, including scholastic chess.

Working in partnership with USCF is the U.S. Chess Trust, a non-profit association funded by tax-deductible contributions from chess patrons across the country. The Trust's primary mission is to ensure a chess-learning opportunity for school children.

FOLLOW-UP SUPPORT

USCF has a special Scholastic Department to help meet your needs and address your concerns with regard to school chess programs. Email: Jerry Nash, Scholastic Director or Alan Kantor, Scholastic Assistant.

U.S. CHESS AFFILIATION

USCF affiliation allows your school to become an important part of our national chess network. Many scholastic services offered by USCF require no affiliation, but you will find the advantages of affiliation far exceed the $40 annual fee. No other affiliate type derives as many benefits for their money as scholastic chapters. These benefits include:

CHESS LIFE:

USCF's world-famous monthly chess magazine.

RATED CHESS EVENTS:

Affiliates may run chess competitions in which students acquire national ratings. These ratings are also included in the Rating List. We also offer a program that allows scholastic players to participate in nationally rated scholastic-only in-school tournaments without meeting USCF membership requirements.

USCF RATING LIST:

Affiliates receive USCF's bi-monthly Rating List. This publication includes ratings of all active tournament chessplayers, as well as the Top 100 List (top players in various age categories below 19 years) of USCF members.

SPECIAL YOUTH MEMBERSHIPS:

USCF offers two junior membership categories with reduced membership costs for signing members online. Please check them from our website and refer to the JOIN/RENEW.

* YOUTH (age 19 and under): $25 annually; includes a Chess Life subscription

* SCHOLASTIC (age 14 and under): $19 annually; includes six publications, including 6 issues of Chess Life and membership benefits.
